What is the Material Master file?

Material Master provides the master attributes for all the spare parts. This file needs to be managed by the Planner on an ongoing basis. When new products are released or a part is discontinued, such information needs to be reflected here.

Key attributes that are useful from this file are:

• Part name (name of the part)

• A part number also called material number ( unique identifier of a part)

• Commodity group (used to create commodity-specific rules for depot level mapping

• Service Fee (explains if the part needs to be covered in a service contract)

• Other attributes such as product group, family, category, and type

When the planner performs the analysis, Ascendo refers to this file to make sure the part name or material number is indeed correct, and if they don't match provides an error so the planner can work with the customer to take action.
