How are Depots used and managed?

Depots reference data provides high-level information on the depots. The depots are used to find where the part inventory needs to be stored for a given customer. The field may provide the information on the install base based on part and a “node”. These nodes then need to be mapped to a Depot where the spares need to be stocked to address customer demand. The node indirectly provides an approximation of the location where the products are installed.

Each can be connected to a Hub.   Hub can be connected to a Global Hub.

When looking at the Demand we look at the following:

  • What do we need to stock at Depot?

  • Some parts are never stocked at Depot and they are done either at regional hub or global hub or both

  • Based on the demand we look at the connected regional hub and global hub

  • Based on part type, depot connection, hub exception rules, we determine the demand at the regional hub and global hubs

Read other related sections on Hubs and Hub exceptions for additional details.
